The Helix, Cheshire and Merseyside, Lead Provider Collaborative, hosted their first ever Transformation Event on Thursday 11 June 2026, bringing together experts by experience, clinicians and commissioners to discuss and share a vision for improving discharge care for perinatal mental health services.
The event featured contributions from Tim Welch, Chief Executive of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Bhairavi Sapre, Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Director for CWP perinatal services, and members of the Helix expert by experience forum, as well as practitioners and commissioners from Cheshire, Merseyside and Wales.
Key sessions explored:
• Early reflections from the opening of Seren Lodge, and the journey of how it came from vision to reality.
• Born from Experience videos sharing lived insight from those who have experienced perinatal mental health.
Interactive workshops enabled participants to input ideas on co-producing a high-quality, compassionate discharge care plan in support of continuous improvement and collaboration within perinatal services. Colleagues from Helix LPC have taken the ideas from the session to develop a solution in the near future.
Helix’s Experts by Experience shared their valued insight on accessing specialised perinatal services empowering discussions for the implementation of improved interventions along the treatment pathway, focusing on the wellbeing of the whole family.
